The Challenge
A premium drinks manufacturer operating from a flagship site in England required additional technical support to strengthen its Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QEMS) ahead of important external ISO audits. Recent internal changes had created gaps in administrative and practical processes, reducing confidence in the robustness and audit‑readiness of core systems.
The organisation needed a trusted partner to review and update its Environmental Aspects & Impacts Register, assess legal compliance, and deliver an integrated internal audit against ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Ensuring that documentation reflected current operations, legislative changes, and recent packaging‑related obligations was essential to maintaining certification and continual improvement.
The Solution
Arthian deployed management systems and environmental compliance specialists to provide targeted, high‑value support, including interim on‑site assistance to stabilise and strengthen the organisation’s QEMS.
Aspects & Impacts Register Review
A virtual workshop with site staff enabled a detailed evaluation of the existing register. Arthian identified seven new environmental aspects, refined risk ratings, and reduced the number of significant aspects from 23 to 16 — improving prioritisation and enabling clearer focus on key environmental impacts.
Environmental Legal Compliance Audit
A two‑day on‑site audit provided a comprehensive snapshot of compliance status. A tailored legal register was produced, outlining applicable regulations, evidence, and obligations. The breadth of compliance requirements highlighted during the audit was noted as particularly valuable by the client.
Integrated ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Internal Audit
Arthian conducted a combined internal audit, reviewing conformance against both standards and assessing internal processes, documentation, and operational controls. Leadership, planning, and operational elements were integrated to streamline the audit and provide a coherent set of findings.
Strengthening Internal Capability
Through interviews, observations, and collaborative discussions, the project enhanced staff understanding of how management systems support business performance and continual improvement.
