Arthian Expands into the Offshore Sector with Strategic Senior Appointment
4th May 2026
Arthian has taken an important step in its growth journey with a strategic expansion into the offshore renewables and marine sector. This move is strengthened by the appointment of Derek (Des) Duckett, a chartered environmental specialist with deep experience across offshore wind, oil and gas, construction and marine industries. Des joins the business from Glasgow and will support clients across the UK as we build our offshore environmental advisory capability.
Supporting a Rapidly Growing Offshore Market
Scotland’s offshore sector is accelerating at pace, driven by major investments — including Sumitomo’s recent commitment at the Port of Nigg — and increasing activity across the Highlands, Aberdeen and the wider North Sea supply chain. As demand grows for robust environmental, planning and engineering support, Arthian is expanding its services to meet the needs of developers, operators and supply‑chain partners.
Des brings significant expertise in post‑consent offshore renewables, including:
- Consents advisory and management
- Offshore ECoW
- Environmental management and compliance
- Support for offshore wind construction projects
His experience gives Arthian immediate capability to help clients navigate complex regulatory, environmental and operational challenges.
A Strengthened Offshore and Wind Energy Offering
With Des’s appointment, Arthian’s expanded offshore and wind energy services now include:
- Environmental advisory support across development, construction and operations
- Offshore consents and regulatory navigation
- Offshore ECoW and environmental management
- Ecology, biodiversity, noise, air quality and EIA‑related services
- Planning and regulatory support, including applications, policy advice and stakeholder engagement
- Engineering services such as energy feasibility, civil and geotechnical design, HDD works and operational depot design
This multidisciplinary capability is delivered through Arthian’s integrated team of planners, consenting specialists, engineers, environmental scientists, safety professionals and sustainability experts — enabling a joined‑up approach across the full lifecycle of offshore and wind projects.
A Strategic Move for Scotland’s Renewables Future
Commenting on the expansion, Derek J. McNab, CEO, said that Arthian’s move into the offshore sector reflects both client demand and Scotland’s growing role in the global renewables market. He noted that Des brings the experience and credibility needed to strengthen the company’s offering from day one.
As Scotland continues to scale its offshore ambitions, Arthian looks forward to supporting the next generation of development with responsible, compliant and commercially focused environmental expertise.
