Arthian supported the Client with achieving accreditation with BSI to ISO 14064-1 2019 Standard and IWA 42:2022 Net Zero Guidelines in 2025. To meet the certification requirements, Arthian provided the following services:
- Comprehensive GHG inventory in line with ISO 14064-1: Arthian collaborated with key stakeholders to complete a full Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventory. This process included reviewing existing consumption data, performing computations, and applying best-practice methodologies. Results were delivered through a Carbon Footprint Report accompanied by an evidence pack, hotspot analysis, and data quality assessment—ensuring transparency and actionable insights.
- A Net Zero Strategy aligned with IWA 42:2022 Net Zero Guidelines and the ISEP GHG Management Hierarchy. The strategy incorporated:
-
- Science-based target setting: Targets were developed and communicated through a stakeholder workshop, clarifying near-term and net zero pathways.
-
- Prioritised emission reduction actions: Actions were identified across all scopes and categorised under the hierarchy of Eliminate, Reduce, Substitute, and Compensate, with individual action targets linked to organizational goals.
- Governance and monitoring frameworks: The strategy detailed approaches for residual emissions management, ongoing measurement, stakeholder engagement, data quality improvement, and base-year recalculation policies.
- Attendance of BSI audits and verification of audited data incl. evidence pack: Arthian attended both BSI ISO 14064-1 and BSI Net Zero Pathway Scheme Audits on behalf of the Client
In the calculation of the carbon footprint, the availability and quality of data were challenging at times, especially in relation to Scope 3 emissions reporting. However, through our collaborative approach of regular communication with the Client and provision of guidance on appropriate types and sources of data, these challenges were overcome. We continue working with the Client to assess their carbon footprint annually and with this, helping them build a data management system which improves over time for more accurate and consistent carbon footprint reporting.
The Solution
Arthian’s technical expertise and structured approach enabled TSL to achieve BSI Certification to ISO 14064-1 and IWA42 Net Zero Guidelines and strengthen its long-term Net Zero strategy. Arthian continues to provide the Client with advisory and implementation support, ensuring compliance and progress toward ambitious climate goals.
