Preliminary Site Investigation & Reporting

A thorough understanding of the site’s physical conditions is fundamental to effective project planning. Our preliminary investigations involve reviewing existing data, undertaking field assessments, and identifying potential constraints such as poor ground conditions, flood zones, protected habitats, or existing infrastructure.
We deliver clear, decision-ready reports that inform early feasibility work, support planning applications, and provide a strong foundation for design.

Roads & Pavement Design

Our civil engineers design public and private roads and hardstandings which consider traffic flow, safety, surface drainage integration, and material sustainability. This includes site access roads, haul road, internal road layouts, hardstandings, car parking areas and swept path assessments to appropriate highway authority standards and planning layouts with planning.
Our designs support smooth vehicle and pedestrian movement, optimise land use, and integrate effectively with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

Culvert Design

Culvert Design & Assessment

Culverts and watercourse crossings must be correctly designed to manage surface water flow and reduce flood risk. Our services include culvert design, structural assessment, flood modelling, and ecological consideration, particularly where watercourses intersect with roads or development areas. We help ensure Environment Agency and local authority approval through robust hydraulic and structural justification. We also carry out designs for overspanning solutions of existing assets and bridge design. 

Retaining Walls & Structures

Where level differences must be retained, we design structural solutions tailored to ground conditions, loading, and aesthetics. Our services include gravity walls, cantilever walls, reinforced soil systems, modular retaining structures and sloped solutions. Each solution is evaluated for its long-term stability, maintenance needs, and integration with adjacent infrastructure.

We provide specialist bund designs and assessments for environmental secondary and tertiary containment. Our team have significant experience in the design, assessment and inspection of upper tier and lower tier COMAH sites and other uses, working to appropriate design and inspection codes of practice. Working closely with tankage and ECI designers, our solutions consider whole project needs. 

Drainage Design & SuDS

Drainage & Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)

Drainage design is central to the success of any development, whether the system is adopted or not. We produce robust, policy-compliant drainage strategies and designs that integrate SuDS features such as swales, infiltration basins, and attenuation tanks. Our solutions address water quantity, water quality, biodiversity and amenity benefits in line with Defra and CIRIA guidance.  

Near Shore Engineering & Underground Cabling

Near Shore Engineering & Underground Cabling

Our team have excellent experience supporting clients with their nearshore needs including design, inspection or repair of mooring and berthing dolphins, fenders, jetty structures and loading arms. 
Renewable energy projects require specialist civil engineering input often with significant existing utility, ground and environmental sensitivities to be considered. We design route alignements, corridor design, haul roads, topsoil storage, fencing, temporary works, drainage and access for these projects. Our experience also includes horizontal directional drilling, wind farm and substation works.
