Graduate Temporary Works Engineer
Overview
You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in temporary works design, construction support, and engineering problem-solving across a range of projects and sectors. Full training and mentoring will be provided, with support toward professional development and ICE chartership.
The Role
As part of your graduate development, you will:
- Assist with the design of temporary works systems such as propping, falsework, formwork, access platforms, excavations and temporary structures
- Support senior engineers with calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation
- Learn and apply relevant standards including BS 5975 and Eurocodes
- Produce drawings and sketches for practical, constructable design solutions
- Help with site visits, technical inspections and site support
- Develop an understanding of construction methods and sequencing
- Assist in preparing design deliverables for clients and contractors
- Work collaboratively with engineers, clients and contractors
- Learn best practice for quality assurance, health & safety compliance and commercial awareness
Qualifications
- A degree, or expected degree, in Civil Engineering or an equivalent related degree (Bachelors or Masters)
- Desire to gain Professional Qualification with the Institute of Civil Engineers
